After living many places, Ed and Cathie Galante are now pleased to call North Texas home. Ed retired from ExxonMobil in 2006 following 34 years in a variety of roles, culminating as a Senior Vice President and member of the Management Committee.
Over the years, the Galantes have increased their annual United Way gifts and they have long been Tocqueville Society members. In addition to providing leadership within his workplace, Ed chaired the community-wide campaign in Baton Rouge Louisiana in 1991.
“I enjoyed speaking to so many people about United Way and the work of the community agencies that benefit from our gifts. In Baton Rouge, as part of the campaign, we had a series of Jambalaya cook-offs that culminated in a community wide cook-off. I ate a lot of Jambalaya during that period, but I loved it AND we made our fundraising goal,” Ed said.
Ed and Cathie continue to be passionate in their support of development opportunities for individuals, communities and businesses. Ed graduated from Northeastern University where he serves on the Board of Trustees and lectures in the College of Business. He sits on two corporate boards and is involved with the College of Music at LSU. He also serves as a member of the Junior Achievement Worldwide Board and as Treasurer for the United Way Foundation of Metropolitan Dallas Board.
Last year, Ed and Cathie decided to endow their annual Tocqueville gift through a gift to the United Way Foundation. He said, “After years of involvement and seeing the results of our United Way gifts at work, we felt that endowing our gift was a natural progression.”
Ed and Cathie are committed to ensuring programs that help create a good quality of life continue to be available for individuals and families in need. If you would like more information about continuing YOUR legacy of caring, please click here.
