Charles Wolford

As Executive Director of the United Way partner agency, CITY House, it is undeniable that Charles Wolford LIVES UNITED in our community. Growing up in South Dallas, his family benefitted from services of other United Way partner agencies. This fostered his belief in giving back and stewarding positive relationships. Charles became a donor in 1993 and has increased his giving to the Leadership level, an annual contribution of $1,000 or more, as well as his involvement with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

Charles is a prime example of an advocate for United Way in his role as an agency speaker. United Way counts on him to put a face on our message to Give. Advocate. and Volunteer. during the campaign season. Charles’ personal journey and the good work he is able to accomplish with United Way dollars through CITY House, touches donors and potential donors in a unique way.

Charles also serves as a volunteer in many ways in our community beyond his job at CITY House. He served as a United Way Campaign Chair at his agency, St. Joseph Children’s TreatmentCenter, in 1993 in Dayton, Ohio and from there has continued to increase his own contributions to United Way. He is also an active volunteer with HeartspringSchool, the Wichita Children’s Home, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

CITY House is a United Way agency partner whose mission is to protect children and strengthen families by helping children, youth and families resolve physical and emotional crises. They provide a complimentary suite of intervention and prevention services at no cost to their clients.

When asked about his proudest accomplishment, Charles mentioned the new emergency children’s shelter, My Friend’s House, which will house 25 children in response to the low number of foster families in the area and the high need for child placement.

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas would like to thank Charles for LIVING UNITED in our community through giving, advocating and volunteering.
