Yousuf Omar has been a loyal contributor to United Way since 1985. As the Director of Middle Market at Citibank, North America, Yousuf has increased his involvement with United Way both through Citi campaigns and leadership opportunities within United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD). He is a wonderful example of the LIVE UNITED message of Give. Advocate. Volunteer.

Yousuf’s first association with United Way was like many others, through the workplace campaign at his first job. Over the years, he learned more about United Way’s extensive grants allocation process and the yearly community needs assessment.

Yousuf said of these measures, “I am convinced that my contributions and volunteer efforts are being directed where they make the most impact in the community.”

Going beyond giving to United Way, Yousuf has served in many different volunteer roles. He has served as an advocate for United Way as the campaign lead at Citibank as well as the Leadership Chair for Citi’s overall DFW campaign.  Under his leadership, Citi was yet again a UWMD Top 10 company with more than one million dollars contributed in one year. His other volunteer roles within UWMD have included being a Grants Committee volunteer, a Cabinet Member for the Chemical and Manufacturing Committee and a Cabinet Member of the Tocqueville Society Committee.

Despite his incredibly busy schedule, he finds it very fulfilling to take an active role in an organization that touches so many lives.

“Through my involvement I’ve learned a great deal about the city of Dallas and how United Way contributes to education, health and social growth of the city,” Yousuf said.

Yousuf is an IndianaUniversity alumni, where he earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He is married and has two daughters and enjoys traveling , golf, cooking and gardening in his spare time. He is also heavily involved in other organizations throughout the Dallas community such as the Barrios Unidos Community Clinic.
