Brian Philips, President and CEO of Dallas-based FedEx Office, is a long-time supporter of United Way. After joining FedEx in 1993, Brian learned about the United Way and how FedEx has supported it for more than 30 years. He began dedicating his time and resources to United Way, eventually becoming a Tocqueville Society Member.
After moving from Memphis to Dallas to work at FedEx Kinko's (now FedEx Office), Brian became even more involved. In April 2007, he joined the UWMD Board of Directors and is an active member of the Executive Committee. He has a marketing background, and has been a great source of knowledge for our Brand Strategy department.
Brian also served as the 2007 United Way Campaign Chair for FedEx Office and helped increase the amount raised by 73 percent while almost doubling the number of employees who participated. In addition, FedEx Office is proud to have five Tocqueville Society Members in the Dallas area who give $10,000 or more annually.
FedEx Office also supported United Way's Destination: Graduation program through a corporate sponsorship. Destination: Graduation aims to decrease the high school drop out rate in Dallas and Collin County.
"I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome on the 2007 FedEx Office United Way campaign, and I am honored to work for a company that puts such an emphasis on giving back to the community," Brian said. "United Way is an outstanding agency that touches the lives of so many, and I am privileged to contribute my time and resources."
During its annual "FedEx Cares Week," thousands of employees across the country participated in community volunteer activities with United Way agencies. In Dallas, employees visited the site of a YMCA Summer Camp that was flooded by torrential rains. Brian worked alongside other FedEx team members all day to help refurbish the campsite and prepare the grounds for summer camp in 2008.
In his current role at the company, Brian is responsible for FedEx Office's strategic direction, product and service vision, as well as growth and development for more than 1,900 digitally connected locations and 22,000 team members in 11 countries.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Brian graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1988. He received his Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1992. He and his wife Laura live in Dallas with their daughter Megan.
