George Kennard

George Kennard was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After attending college on a tennis scholarship at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, he relocated to Houston in 1990, where he started his professional career in sales as an Account Executive with AT&T. Since then, George has held several different positions in sales and marketing in the telecommunications industry. Currently, George is a Client Business Manager with AT&T in the Premier Client Group. In this capacity George is responsible for the business development of a number of Fortune 1000 corporations.

After many years of supporting United Way with his personal donations, George became an active member of the African American Leadership Society (AALS) Steering Committee. In 2008, George took on a leadership volunteer role with United Way's community-wide campaign effort by serving as the chairperson for AALS. As the AALS chair, George serves on the campaign cabinet, providing strategic guidance and direction to the Society from a volunteer engagement and recognition perspective.

"It has been a great pleasure to work closely with United Way staff and that of their partner agencies," George said. "The AALS has participated in several different community outreach programs, and we have learned firsthand what an incredible impact the United Way makes in the lives of many people. I think it is important to be part of the AALS because we are given the opportunity to be part of an organization that gives back time and helps raise resources to address essential needs such as financial stability, health, and educational assistance. This is a core part of making the communities that we live and work in more vibrant and rich."

George's other community involvement includes serving as president of MPTAA, a non-profit foundation in Houston, and working with Junior Achievement in Dallas.

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas thanks George for his continued support and for his AALS leadership during the 2008 campaign.
