Bill Morrison, Allocations Volunteer
LUphotos_BillMorrison.jpgMy name is Bill Morrison and I am a United Way volunteer.

I have been volunteering since I was in the fourth grade. Throughout the years, my character has been shaped by my experiences volunteering for nonprofits.

As a college student, my volunteer work took me around the world. One of my most treasured moments is working with Mother Theresa in her clinics in Calcutta and New Delhi.

As an adult, I have been focused on serving my local community. United Way offered a unique introduction to the broad spectrum of community service in North Texas. I began, like many, with a financial contribution through the workplace and eventually began to volunteer.

I became involved with the Priority Needs Grant process, the process United Way goes through to invest money back into the community. I have since served as a chair of the Physical Health and Wellness panel and I am now in the second year of my four year commitment to serve as a vice chair and eventually chair of the Central Allocations Committee.

Along with my increased volunteer contributions, I am proud to have increased my giving to United Way. I am in the second year of the fast-track Tocqueville program, a three-year track to reach $10,000 or more annually.

So whether you give, advocate or volunteer, I encourage each of you to get involved and LIVE UNITED in our communities.
