Citi has been a shining example of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) LIVE UNITED movement that encourages individuals and organizations to Give. Advocate. Volunteer. for a better tomorrow. We are so pleased to announce that Citi has once again stepped up to the plate for North Texans in need. Citi has committed to investing $200,000 in United Way’s upcoming “Earn it! Keep it! Save it!” program designed to help lower income North Texans receive their earned income tax credit which averages $2,000 per family. This program will allow families to become more financially literate and stable.
As the largest financial institution contributor to the UWMD campaign, Citi continues to demonstrate its belief in the importance of investing in the communities where their employees work and live. In 2007, Citi employees raised more than $1,983,000 during their campaign, bringing their total during the last five years to a whopping $7.8 million. With the generous gifts from Citi employees and the Citi Foundation, we are able to improve lives in the Metroplex.
Not only does Citi give, but they provide more than 600 active volunteers who are engaged in UWMD activities. Citi employees have volunteered countless hours of time to ensure our United Way is the most compelling and effective philanthropic investment in our community. Volunteers range from serving as members of the Board of Directors, the Campaign Cabinet, the Public Policy Committee and the Grant Allocations Committee. This year, Citi has 61 Grant Allocations Committee volunteers, the largest of any other organization in the area.
As the 2007 United Way Campaign Chair, Debbie Taylor the Southwest Regional Director and Texas State Director for Citi North America Community Relations, is one of our greatest examples of a true volunteer, advocate and donor. She currently serves on the UWMD Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, and just six months ago, she led our Campaign Cabinet to achieve an all-time UWMD campaign record of $60.1 million.
Debbie also proposed and implemented a new giving initiative in 2007 for UWMD – Women of Tocqueville (WOT) -
a network of successful women who are focusing their collective leadership capabilities and each give $10,000 or more annually to United Way. There are nearly 140 founding members of Women of Tocqueville, as a result of her efforts and outreach. One woman speaking to another led to $1.3 million a critical strategy in reaching UWMD’s 2008 fundraising goal.
United Way of Metropolitan Dallas would like to thank Citi for LIVING UNITED in the Dallas area through giving, advocating and volunteering. When you think of a company that invests back into their community, think of Citi.
