Last year, Hitachi Consulting partnered with United Way for the first time on a national effort. More than 1,300 employees, in 12 states, were encouraged to learn about their local community, get engaged and make an impact; “think global, act local.”

In Dallas, home of the firm’s headquarters, employees joined together to raise more than $23,000 in their first campaign. Their efforts and contributions resulted in earning the “New Campaign of the Year,” award from United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) with special recognition at our Heroes of Hope Celebration.

And while the firm believes that financial giving is necessary to create change, Hitachi Consulting’s partnership goes beyond money. When UWMD launched the LIVE UNITED movement on June 21, 2008, Hitachi Consulting was at the forefront of planning and participating in the first National Day of Action.  This event, held on the longest day of the year, encouraged community members to becomeinvolved and generously donate their time to make a significant impact in the areas of education, income and health. Justin Winter, Southwest Market Managing Vice President and Carrie Austin, Southwest Market People Manager, served on the Steering Committee to plan this event for the Dallas community. 

In addition, 20 volunteers donated their time by serving breakfast and lunch at The Bridge, a new facility that serves the homeless community in Dallas. The Dallas office of Hitachi Consulting whole heartedly supported the cause by conducting a hygiene drive- collecting toiletries and assembling kits to be distributed to the Bridge homeless assistance center patrons.  As a result of this partnership, the Dallas office continues to LIVE UNITED by serving meals at The Bridge the first Friday of each month.
