Baylor Health Care System

Baylor Health Care System (BHCS) exemplifies what it means to LIVE UNITED in our community. As a non-profit health care system for more than 100 years, all revenue after expenses is used to improve the health of the community through patient care, education, research, and community service.

BHCS has many locations that contribute to United Way each year and strives to increase their giving and volunteer services through United Way leadership programs. Through their many years of support, BHCS has raised more money than any other Dallas hospital for United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD). They are also ranked number 25 out of UWMD’s Top 120 Campaigns.

Baylor is led by CEO Joel T. Allison, who says his life-long mission is to serve others. Allison served as the 2003 UWMD Campaign Chair, leading United Way to a record breaking campaign and has also served as the Chairman of the United Way Board. Through his continued leadership and that of his team, BHCS raised $528,805 for the 2007 campaign. Contributing to this extraordinary number are the employees who give at the Leadership level, individuals who give $1,000 or more per year. Leadership giving increased from 99 individuals in 2006 to 162 individuals in 2007! Their campaign also includes two Tocqueville Members - individuals who give $10,000 or more per year.

Along with their many philanthropic endeavors, BHCS strives to provide exemplary care to our communities at every opportunity. In doing so, they have been honored with many recognitions such as Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) being ranked among the top 50 hospitals in ten out of seventeen specialties in the “America’s Best Hospitals Guide” and patient satisfaction scores on the rise due to staff demonstrating the Spirit of Excellence at BUMC.

United Way would like to thank Baylor Health Care System for LIVING UNITED everyday through giving, advocating and volunteering in our community.
