Parkland Health and Hospital System is a leader, among Dallas hospitals, dedicated to giving money back to the community through United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
Parkland and United Way have a long, rich history together. Both organizations strive to provide health and human services to people in need. Parkland employees have been participating in annual United Way workplace campaigns for more than three decades. The generosity of Parkland employees is evident every year. With almost 50% participation, the Parkland/United Way campaign raised $133,970.00 in 2007. This was a 66% increase over the prior year. Parkland also increased its number of Leadership Givers within the campaign (those giving $1,000 or more). The health care organization went from one Leadership giver in 2006 to twelve Leadership givers in 2007!
The Parkland/United Way relationship extends beyond employee campaigns. Parkland's West Dallas Youth and Family Center is also on United Way's list of partner agencies. The Center is a school-based clinic that gives children who may not have a primary care doctor, a chance to receive health care. The center is located adjacent to Pinkston High School in west Dallas. Children work closely with their school nurse to get medical attention and antibiotics that keep them well and most importantly, in school. The West Dallas Youth & Family Center has received funding from United Way since 1986. It is one of eleven Youth and Family Center locations provided to residents, by Parkland.
As Parkland Health and Hospital System continues to grow and provide for the Dallas community, so does United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. Together, both organizations can help provide much-needed health and human services to Dallas residents for years to come.
United Way thanks Parkland Health and Hospital System for their continued support.
